Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

Counselling and Psychotherapy are both are talking therapies.
The focus in Counselling might be on current problems whilst Psychotherapy might, at the same time, look deeper at reasons behind current difficulties to enable you to work with insight and compassion towards change.

Do all clients who see you do art therapy?

No. I work with art therapy when specifically requested to do so.

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is an approach in which simple art materials are available to be used by client, to express thoughts, feelings, moods, and emotions, in the presence of an empathic therapist.
It offers the possibility of giving form to memory, which can be referred back to at a later date.
It offers the possibility of putting different aspects of ones personality, or life, into a place where it can be seen and reflected on.
It can be a powerful tool.

How often should one have sessions?

Generally sessions take place once a week at the same time each week.
But we all have different circumstances and sometimes there is a longer space of time between one session and the next, and at different days and times as agreed.

What is the cost of the appointments?

I charge £40 per session.
